Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike has promised to support all communities in the State noting that the 23 LGAs of the State are his constituency. The Governor made the promise when chiefs and elders of Ikwerre forum led by Chief Paul Woke Wonodi (JP) paid him a courtesy visit at the executive chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.
“You can be assured that as your son, I will make you proud, because Rivers State is my constituency, whatever I can do to touch the various communities I will do it so that every part of the State will feel the impact of Government”.
Governor Wike urged them not to relent in their support for the Government but to continue to preach peace in their various communities and assist the police to fight against kidnapping and other social vices in their various communities by given vital and useful information.
He disclosed Governments plan to dismiss from the state gazette names of traditional rulers who obtained their chieftaincies politically and promised to seek approval from various kingdoms and communities before elevating Chiefs. Earlier, the leader of the Ikwerre Chiefs and elders forum, Chief Paul Woke Wonodi (JP) congratulated the Governor on his victory at the Supreme Court and thanked him for the unprecedented developments that has taken place since his inception of office.
He commended him on the construction of roads and bridges, reopening of the courts after one year of its closure and the payment of four months back log of workers and pensioners salaries.
Chief Wonodi also pledged the continuous support of the entire Ikwerre people for his administration.
